About Us: Overview
From our Chairman, Roy Stubbs
I am delighted to introduce our 24 hour radio service to Southampton Hospitals, broadcast from the studios located alongside the Tesco Superstore in Millbrook.
Although the only contact with us may be listening to the presenters' voices or meeting the hospital visitors who collect the requests, these represent only a third of our active membership. There are over 100 members, all hardworking unpaid volunteers and we maintain that if we can help brighten just a few minutes of someone's stay in hospital, our efforts have been worthwhile.
Our present studio was built and equipped by Tesco in 1993 and we are eternally grateful for their generosity. We are a registered charity but our studio's annual running costs, which exceed £17,000, are not a part of the hospitals' financial burden. Our volunteer members therefore are actively involved in fundraising throughout the year and if you would like to make a donation to help, please click here to see details.
We continually try to improve our service and welcome your comments or suggestions and if you would like details on how to join, please ask to speak to Yvonne Lowe, our Membership Secretary.
